This medicine is known to work by binding to 50S subunit of bacterial ribosome while inhibiting mRNA translation. It is said to have a bioavailability of 38% and is metabolized in the liver. Azithromycin Tablet belongs to azalide class of antibiotics and assures targeted mode of action with superior effectiveness. It shows elimination half-life of 11 to 14 hours and is excreted from the kidney. In combination with other medications, azithromycin is also used for the treatment of malaria.
